People usually take advantage of the space on the About Me page of their website to bore you with stories of who they are and what they do. These stories are often myopic and self-serving; something you probably would expect on an About page. I’d like to start by sharing an example of what I am not.
I am not an oversized kid sitting at a desk all day, playing World of Warcraft and pretending to be somebody I’m not on dating sites and chat rooms. The world is consumed by stereotypical ideas of internet nerds writing code and building scripts that scrape and hack and perform mysterious functions, all while increasing ranking and dominating search results on Google. I think that stereotype needs to change. Internet marketers are tomorrow’s branding and sales leaders; they are the ones who understand so clearly that the future is not in print ads or in convention centers or on a giant plasma television, but that the future is literally a cloud that exists in all space around us. I am an Internet marketer.
I never intended to be a search engine optimizer (SEO). I studied writing and communication for many more years than I should have (I found college to be very, very entertaining) and finally emerged as an adult with a paper degree in Communication and Public Relations and no idea where to go or what to do. I developed a knack for writing clever, intelligent and biting press releases and information documents that were unique and different. I had an interest in writing and promoting a company, brand or idea, but as luck would have it, I was looking for a job at a time when the nation was going through a period of historically low employment. I found a position at a small website based out of southern Washington State that needed somebody to link build for them full time. I had no idea what link building was, and thus I stumbled into the world of online marketing. I cut my teeth during one year of trial and error, hedging marginal success by teaching myself tips and tactics to build relationships and boost rankings.
During this time of self-growth and learning, I took advantage of the beautiful Seattle summer and became obsessed with motorcycles. I researched, read, rode and eventually purchased my first motorcycle in the state of Washington. I rode thousands of miles that one summer, finding an outlet to the stress and frustrations that I experienced during normal life. I enjoyed the scenic beaches and evergreen forests that seem to wiggle their way into every available and undeveloped inch of land across this state. The days that held back rain were some of the most beautiful I have ever experienced.
After a year of working in southern Washington, I had developed a skill set that enabled me to win keywords and produce success in my work. At that time, an old college roommate of mine told me to come check out his company, Full Beaker, which he said was well on its way to becoming an internet powerhouse. I was offered a position to work under some of the SEO Industry’s best and brightest, and to hone my skills and develop a career as an SEO. I quickly accepted the position and moved to Seattle, where I work under some of the most intelligent and best management in the country and learn cutting-edge, industry shaping tactics and skills on a daily basis. I work to push the limits of SEO, constantly testing, tweaking, improving and growing websites that continue to win keywords and climb in rankings.
As I have grown as a professional marketer, I have had experiences that have shaped me as a human. On New Year’s Eve 2011 I was lucky enough to marry the woman of my dreams and develop a relationship far deeper than I ever imagined was possible. She is far more bold than I and convinced me to try Crossfit, a form of cross training which utilizes power lifting movement and body calisthenics to produce the most ass-whooping workout imaginable. After the first workout I was addicted and my life has forever changed. When I say that the internet and those who live it have changed, I am living proof.
SEO and Internet marketing are what I do. I love the competition and dominate the results.
I provide a variety of SEO services for people who are searching for a way to increase their personal or professional reach on the internet.
